Week 17 Unit 3

This week I have worked on the modelling section of my controlled assessment. This is where I had to create a model identifying the different costs and analysing my use of "what-if" questions.

Milestone 1 (identify costs): this was the first milestone that I had to complete whereby I was made to identify the different costs that are involved within the prom. This includes the hall costs, food costs, entertainment costs that I have successfully recognised as shown on the screenshot on the left. (The titles for each sector are the costs that are involved).

Milestone 2 (Produce a model): I have successfully completed this milestone also which is evidently represented by the screenshot which shows this model that I have created. Using this model, I have come to an overall cost after considering the different costs involved. The overall cost I have come to is £34.44 which is less than the overall cost I was meant to keep it at (which was £35). I have done this by adding different types of validations such as drop down lists and IF statements which have thoroughly been described under 2d modelling with data. To work out the overall cost I have used a combination of formulae throughout which involved a number of mathematical operations such as adding, multiplying (for when I worked out the total cost of each sub section) and division when I worked out the individual cost per person. These formulae and IF statements are represented on this screenshot above as further evidence. Some formulae took me some time to work out as I had to be very careful and think about it especially with the IF statements where I got confused. I resolved this by thoroughly checking my statements for mistakes.

Milestone 3 (investigating ways to keep overall cost at certain level): in my case I had attempted to keep the overall cost at £35 per person which I have achieved in my model. The three ways that I though this could be achieved is by first of all a cheaper venue type/increasing number of students and encouraging them or even changing the meal type etc. I have met this requirement also.

Milestone 4 (interpret results): I have also met this as I had explained and had completed an analysis on my "what if" questions.
